P043C025-40-V3 is a 4.3" TFT LCD display module with a resolution of 480RGB(H)×272(V), a luminance of 300 nit, and a contrast ratio of 250:1, connected via a 40-pin FPC and driven over an RGB 24-bit parallel interface using the ILI6485 driver IC. The display mode is Normally White with a 6 o'clock viewing direction, and the module operates from −20°C to +70°C. The WQVGA (480×272) resolution at 4.3" and the RGB 24-bit direct interface are the defining characteristics of this module: 480×272 is the native resolution of the widest-deployed 4.3" TFT panel family in embedded HMI and automotive auxiliary applications, and the RGB 24-bit bus connects directly to application processors without a bridge IC.
The active display area is 95.04(H)×53.86(V)mm inside an outline of 105.50×67.15×2.90mm. Pixel pitch is 66(H)×198(V)μm — a 1:3 horizontal-to-vertical ratio requiring aspect-ratio handling in firmware. Pixel arrangement is RGB Vertical Stripe with 262K color depth (18-bit). The LED side-light backlight integrates within the 2.90mm module depth.
The pixel pitch of 66(H)×198(V)μm means each pixel is physically 3× taller than it is wide — the same 1:3 ratio present in several panels in this product family at different sizes. The physical display area is 95.04×53.86mm at 480×272 pixels, which confirms the geometry: 95.04mm ÷ 480 = 0.198mm per horizontal pixel-period, and 53.86mm ÷ 272 = 0.198mm per vertical pixel-period. Despite the equal pixel-period in both axes — which suggests square output — the subpixel column pitch within each RGB triplet is 66μm (one-third of the 198μm pixel-period), creating the non-square subpixel structure that affects color rendering at the subpixel level.
For most UI rendering purposes, the 480×272 logical framebuffer maps to the 95.04×53.86mm physical area at a 1.76:1 (widescreen) aspect ratio — which is correct and square at the pixel level. Unlike the 240×320 modules in this family where the horizontal and vertical physical pixel dimensions differ, the 4.3-inch TFT LCD module at 480×272 renders square pixels at the pixel level. Verify by drawing a 100×100px square in the framebuffer; it should appear as approximately 19.8×19.8mm on the physical panel.
The 6 o'clock viewing direction means the panel's contrast and grayscale gamma are optimized for a viewer positioned below the screen's horizontal centerline — looking upward at the display. This is the standard configuration for dashboard-mounted automotive auxiliary displays, tilted-stand HMI panels, and table-surface kiosk units where the operator views the screen from a seated or standing position with the screen angled slightly toward them from above. The contrast ratio of 250:1 and luminance of 300 nit are measured at the 6 o'clock optimal viewing position; at the 12 o'clock position (viewing from above), contrast and grayscale accuracy degrade measurably.
If the intended application mounts the display at or above eye level — viewed from below, i.e., the 12 o'clock direction — the viewing angle optimization of this panel is inverted relative to the use case. For applications where the mounting orientation is variable or where multiple viewers at different positions must see consistent image quality, select an IPS panel with all-direction viewing coverage. Confirm the final enclosure mounting angle against the panel's 6 o'clock optimization before ordering production quantities.
The RGB 24-bit parallel interface carries 8 bits each for red, green, and blue, plus HSYNC, VSYNC, DE, and DCLK on the 40-pin FPC. The ILI6485 driver IC, configured via a separate SPI or I²C initialization bus (confirm the specific initialization interface in the datasheet), accepts the continuous RGB pixel stream after initialization. Application processors with a native LCD parallel output — NXP i.MX 6/7/8 (LCDIF), Allwinner A/T series (TCON), Rockchip RK3xxx (VOP), STM32H7/MP1 (LTDC) — connect directly without a bridge IC.
The RGB bus requires a continuous pixel clock synchronized to HSYNC/VSYNC timing; the host must sustain this output during active display operation. Pixel clock frequency and timing margins (front porch, back porch, sync pulse width) must be set within the ranges in the ILI6485 datasheet AC Timing section — verify against P043C025-40-V3-specific values rather than generic 480×272 timing tables, as driver IC variants within the ILI6485 family may have different timing windows. The 40-pin FPC includes both display signal lines and backlight drive connections; confirm pin assignments against the module schematic before PCB layout.
The module outline is 105.50×67.15×2.90mm, with an active area of 95.04×53.86mm. The inactive border is 5.23mm on the horizontal edges and 6.65mm on the vertical edges — wider than the sub-3mm borders on the smaller panels in this family, which is typical for 4.3" panels where the gate driver and source driver silicon occupy more border area. PCB and enclosure designs should account for these border dimensions when defining the display window cutout.
The 250:1 contrast ratio is lower than the IPS variants in this product family (800:1 to 1200:1) and reflects the TN cell technology at this panel size. At 300 nit white luminance, black luminance measures approximately 1.2 cd/m² — visibly lighter than IPS black levels. In applications with predominantly light-background UIs (maps, forms, text on white), the lower contrast ratio has minimal visible impact. In applications with dark-background UIs (night-mode dashboards, dark-theme instruments), the difference between 250:1 TN and 800:1+ IPS is perceptible; select accordingly.
Operating temperature is −20°C to +70°C; storage temperature is −30°C to +80°C, meeting IEC 60068-2 industrial-grade thermal class requirements. At 4.3", this module is used in a wider range of environmental contexts than smaller handheld panels — including vehicle cabin auxiliary displays, outdoor kiosk units with enclosure heating, and factory floor HMI panels in non-climate-controlled environments — making the full operating range relevant to the application design rather than a theoretical limit.
For cabin automotive applications (instrument cluster auxiliary, rear-seat entertainment), the +70°C upper limit covers dashboard surface temperatures in most temperate and subtropical climates. In high-latitude summer conditions where parked vehicle cabin temperatures can reach 80–90°C, confirm the thermal design of the enclosure provides sufficient heat dissipation to keep the display below +70°C under worst-case solar loading. The −20°C lower limit covers cold-start conditions in most regions; TN liquid crystal response time at −20°C is degraded relative to room temperature — allow for slow pixel response during the first minutes after cold start.
The 4.3" WQVGA format at 480×272 is one of the established standard sizes for automotive auxiliary displays: rear-view camera monitors, parking assist screens, and secondary information displays in commercial vehicles. The 6 o'clock viewing direction aligns with the driver's natural viewing angle when a display is mounted on the dashboard surface or center console, angled slightly upward. The RGB 24-bit interface connects to automotive-grade SoCs (Renesas R-Car, NXP i.MX 8, TI Jacinto) that include an LCDIF or DSS display subsystem.
This 4.3-inch RGB LCD module does not carry AEC-Q100 automotive qualification. For regulated vehicle applications requiring automotive component qualification, confirm with the supplier whether an AEC-Q100-qualified variant is available. For non-regulated in-vehicle applications (aftermarket accessories, fleet management displays, agricultural machinery), the industrial −20°C to +70°C operating range is typically sufficient without automotive-grade certification.
At 95.04×53.86mm active area, the 4.3" panel provides enough screen real estate to display two to three rows of parameter readouts plus a status bar, or a simplified process diagram with numeric overlays, in standard embedded HMI applications. Machine control panels, handheld measurement devices, and barcode scanner displays in the 4"–5" class frequently use 480×272 WQVGA panels because the resolution matches the output capability of cost-effective HMI SoCs (STM32MP1, i.MX 6ULL, Allwinner R16) without requiring a high-end display pipeline.
The Normally White display mode results in a white screen on power loss. In industrial contexts where power interruption must be visually distinguishable from normal operation, evaluate whether a Normally Black variant is required by the application's fail-state specification. If the process requires that a blank screen be clearly distinguishable from a "white background, no data" display state, Normally Black is the safer choice; for applications where a white screen on power loss is acceptable, Normally White provides marginally lower drive voltage requirements.
P043C025-40-V3 is a display-only module. Resistive touch panels (4-wire or 5-wire) and projected capacitive touch panels (PCAP) matched to the 95.04×53.86mm active area can be frame-mounted or optically bonded on top of the display glass. For resistive touch, the XPT2046 SPI touch controller is the standard choice at this size; for PCAP, Goodix GT911 or FocalTech FT5426 (both I²C) cover the 4.3" active area with multi-touch support.
Additional customization options include FPC length and exit direction, backlight current rating for higher or lower luminance variants, and anti-glare or anti-reflective surface treatment. Each customization requires a separate specification review and affects lead time and MOQ. Anti-reflective coating is particularly relevant for this panel given the 300 nit luminance: in ambient lighting above 500 lux, surface reflection from an untreated glass surface represents a measurable fraction of the displayed white luminance, reducing effective contrast. Request an AR-coated variant specification sheet if the application environment has ambient illuminance above 500 lux.
